Finnish superstar Käärijä to perform in Riga next fall

On October 28^th, Finnish rapper, singer and composer Käärijä will perform at the Palladium Rīga concert hall as part of his most extensive tour to date, named “Eurodisko tour”. The Eurovision 2023 audience vote favorite's hit Cha Cha Cha not only topped the charts in his native Finland, but also in Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania, and ranked at least in the top ten in 13 countries in total.

Käärijä’s performance at Summer Sound 2024 festival became the sensation of that year with very positive reviews from visitors.

Käärijä, or Jere Mikael Pöyhönen, grew up in a suburb of Vantaa. He discovered his passion for music while learning to play the drums, and started producing music since he was about 20 years old. His debut album “Fantastista” was released in 2020.

In early 2023, Käärijä won the national Eurovision selection with the catchy rhythmic composition Cha Cha Cha and accordingly represented Finland in the contest, which took place that year in Liverpool. Although Käärijä came in second place overall, he received the most points in the audience vote – 376. Interestingly enough, Cha Cha Cha has reached 7th place on the global Spotify chart and the track became the most streamed Finnish-language song of all time.

In addition to the phenomenally popular Cha Cha Cha, Käärijä’s setlist includes hits such as Ruoska, TRAFIK! and #eurodab, as well as It's Crazy It's Party featuring Estonian star Tommy Cash.

Pöyhönen has described Rammstein as a major influence of his, and he has a Rammstein tattoo across his chest.

Among other awards, Käärijä has received 5 Emma Gaala (the Finnish equivalent of the Grammy) and one MTV Europe Music Award.

It seems that 2026 will be a real time of triumph for Käärijä. The 13,000-capacity Veikkaus Arena in Helsinki is already almost completely sold out (concert on May 23^rd) and massive 24 shows in 15 different countries across Europe are on the tour list already now. Compared to the previous tours in 2023 and 2024 (which were also very well attended), this one promises to festure a particularly ambitious and spectacular show.
