Their early singles “Djobi Djoba”, “Bamboleo” and “Baila Baila” became international hits, while the album “Gipsy Kings” achieved remarkable success across Europe — especially in France, Italy, England, and Spain — before gaining global acclaim. In 1989, the Gipsy Kings broke into the U.S. market, staying on the charts for an impressive 40 weeks at a time when Spanish-language music was rarely heard internationally.
