Industrial metal heavyweights Fear Factory to perform at Palladium concert hall

This autumn, heavy metal fans in Riga can look forward to a particularly powerful event. American industrial metal titans Fear Factory return to Europe with their "Cybernetic Domination Tour", performing on September 3 at Palladium Concert Hall alongside an impressive lineup of special guests. Joining them on stage will be Japanese metalcore band Crystal Lake, Polish extreme metal group Hate, and American dark atmospheric rock act The Nocturnal Affair.

For more than three decades, Fear Factory have remained one of the most important and influential bands in heavy music. Led by guitarist and co-founder Dino Cazares together with vocalist Burton C. Bell, the band developed a sound that combines industrial coldness, mechanical precision, and extreme metal aggression with a strong melodic edge. This unique blend has inspired an entire generation. As Metal Hammer once wrote, "Fear Factory introduced an entirely new direction in metal that still sounds relevant today."

The band was formed in early 1990s Los Angeles, at a time when social tension and rapid technological development created fertile ground for new ideas. From the very beginning, Fear Factory explored the relationship between humans and technology in both their music and visual identity, creating a dark, dystopian vision of the future. Cazares' precise guitar work, combined with Bell's contrasting vocals, ranging from brutal growls to melodic passages, raised the question of whether this was still human-made music or something beyond. Among their influences, alongside heavy music contemporaries, Fear Factory have cited Paul McCartney from "The Beatles" and "Wings", as well as Black Sabbath's 1970s albums. As a notable compliment, Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward once said in an interview on VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show" that Fear Factory is one of the bands he would personally like to play in.

One of the band's cornerstone releases is "Demanufacture", which Kerrang! described as "still sounding as fresh and devastating as it did upon release". It was followed by albums such as "Obsolete", "Digimortal", and "Genexus", while their latest release, "Aggression Continuum", marks a new chapter in the band's evolution. As Cazares explains, it represents "the moment when the past transforms into the future", a natural continuation of the sound and ideas developed over three decades. This evolution has also been shaped by lineup changes, including a new vocalist. With Milo Silvestro now taking over vocal duties, Fear Factory bring renewed energy and a fresh perspective to both their sound and live performances.

In the mid-90s, Britpop dominated Britain, and Placebo burst into this environment like a draft through a wide-open balcony door. Teenage maximalism, provocative directness, the boundaries of flowing sexuality, mental health, intoxicating substances – the lyrics openly discussed everything that was certainly relevant to young people, but did not dominate the pop music of the time.

Recalling that period, the band's frontman Brian Molko especially emphasizes the song Nancy Boy:

“We were reacting very strongly against the machismo, terrace chants and revisionism of Britpop, and the nationalism that we interpreted as xenophobia of the musical kind. We were trying to make a strong political statement about the fluidity of sexuality with the dresses and make-up that we wore. We set out to confuse, and I guess Nancy Boy was the perfect soundtrack to that.”

Brian Molko's provocatively ambiguous androgynous image added fuel to the rumors and judgments. But the gold status of his debut album "Placebo" and the platinum status of their second album "Without You I'm Nothing" - confirmed sales of more than a million copies - clearly proofed that a new bright star had appeared in the sky of alternative rock.

Celebrating the third decade of their debut, a special remastered version of the album, "Placebo RE:CREATED", is available to pre-order from March 18^th. The new record features reworked and embellished versions of all ten tracks from the original album plus two bonus tracks from the original release, capturing the way these songs have evolved across decades of performance while retaining the raw spirit that defined them. These new recordings amplify the urgency and attitude that made the originals resonate so strongly, while reflecting the band’s growth and experience in the years since their debut. “We think of this record as a director’s cut. We haven’t recreated it from scratch. We went back to the original master tapes and brought 30 years of playing these songs live back into the record.

This project was about finally finishing the record, dragging it into the 21st century sonically, while preserving the integrity and the spirit of the original. It’s not about improving it, there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s about completing it.

Placebo was founded in 1994, when singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Brian Molko met guitarist and keyboardist Stefan Olsdal and the duo is still the constant core of the band.

Placebo are one of the defining alternative rock bands of the past 30 years, with 14 million albums sold to date worldwide. Growing up as the youngest in a large family on the outskirts of Detroit, Jack was fascinated by music as a child, learning to play instruments that his brothers abandoned. First came the drums, then the guitar. A passion for classic rock (Led Zeppelin, Doors, Pink Floyd) and blues determined the young musician's future creative path.

First going through the usual experience of underground bands, later Jack founded the duo The White Stripes with his then wife Meg White. On May 31^st, Lewis Capaldi, the performer of megahits Someone You Loved, Before You Go, Survive and Forget Me, will perform at Vilnius' Vingis Park. This will be the only concert of the talented singer and author of emotionally moving songs in the Baltic States. The world first got to know the talent of Scottish-Italian composer, musician and performer Lewis Capaldi in 2017, when the piece Bruises quickly amassed almost 28 million plays on Spotify worldwide, making him the fastest-ever unsigned artist to reach 25 million plays on the platform. However, all this could not have happened at all, because Lewis's father had a vasectomy, so the boy's conception was a real miracle. Little Lewis became interested in music at an early age: a passion for performing started after he sang on stage at the age of 4 and started learning to play the guitar at the age of 9, soon composing his first original songs.

Following the staggering success of Bruises, Lewis Capaldi quickly signed a record deal and shot to the top of the pop music world like a rocket — becoming the first artist ever to sell out an arena tour before releasing his full debut album “Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent”. The tour will stop in Latvia on June 18 at the Palladium Riga concert hall. On October 28^th, Finnish rapper, singer and composer Käärijä will perform at the Palladium Rīga concert hall as part of his most extensive tour to date, named “Eurodisko tour”.
