We know Tarja Turunen or simply Tarja as the former voice of the band “Nightwish” and now for a long time also as a very successful solo artist, who has not performed in Latvia so far. That is why it is significant that for our first meeting, one of the most famous Finnish sopranos has prepared a very special Christmas program "Christmas Together" for our viewers.

 

Accompanied by only guitar, cello and keys, but above all the phenomenal voice of Tarja! And be it Feliz Navidad, War Is Over or even Ave Maria - you will hardly hear such versions of these classic Christmas songs.

 

In the field of symphometal and hard rock, Tarja is one of the brightest stars and an undoubted pearl of Finland. The three-octave lyric soprano, who studied singing at the Sibelius Academy in Kuopio and the Karlsruhe School of Music, is not only a versatile soloist but also a composer and songwriter.

 

Tarja reached international fame co-founding and being for nine years the voice and image of the Finnish symphonic metal band “Nightwish”, collecting with them Gold and Platinum Record Awards in several countries. Later she focused on a versatile solo career that includes both symphonic rock albums and classical music.

 

Significantly, Tarja's first solo album, “Henkäys Ikuisuuden” (2006), already contains various versions of Christmas songs, and it reaches double platinum status in Finland.
Following a series of symphony albums, in 2015 the disc "Ave Maria - En Plein Air" is released, which contains 12 versions of the world's most famous prayer Ave Maria.
In 2017, "From Spirits and Ghosts (Score for a Dark Christmas)" will be released, in which 11 classic Christmas choirs have acquired a darker vocal tone. A critic of MyGlobalMind writes about it: “The best holiday offer from an artist in a long time, if not all time.
