Valmiermuiža Ethnomusic Festival will gather excellent soloists and ethnomusic bands from Latvia, Italy, Norway and Ukraine on two stages, offering one of the most exciting music festivals this summer. A musical adventure – traditional, meditative, postmodern, rock and ethno-disco. Festival will offer:
- local Jauno Jāņu Orķestris, whose work is characterized by human inner adventures and sweet irony, interchanged with the most ambiguous episodes of Latvian folklore,
- Torgeir Vassvik's band will travel from the far north, representing the ancient Sami people and their musical roots with an archaic and rock-concert sound,
- currently the best taranta music band from Italy, Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, will draw everyone into a whirlwind of dance together with skilled Italian dancers,
- the musical fighting spirit of the folk-rock band Joryj Kloc from Ukraine, which makes folk songs entirely modern by adding powerful music,
- Latvian artists who will represent traditional singing and dark folk, as well as a completely meditative sound,
- after the live music program, everyone will be greeted by the ethno-disco duo – Dīvs Reiznieks and Kaspars Zaviļeiskis, who will offer their favourite world music until the last dancer.

 

Magical fire sculpture by a Spanish artist and a circus performance, sustainable workshops, calm and restless lounges, theatre, cinema and exhibition – the festival promises a creative experience and a great atmosphere for the whole family! The theme of the festival in 2023 is “opposites attract” to highlight the desired – in art, culinary, architecture, landscape and human relationship. Let's look at opposites not as irreconcilable contrasts, but as an opportunity to give life colours, diversity and meaning.
